This week includes the new moon in Sagittarius and the first lunar day at dawn on the 13th. The 12th is an in-between planning day, not in the previous lunation and not yet in the next one.
Aside: obviously there’s still a moon on the 12th, it’s just that the lunar cycle isn’t exactly 29 days and varies through the year. If you look on lunarium, you’ll sometimes see a 30th or even 31st lunar day (plus days with two lunar days and the like). The Hygromanteia includes 29 lunar days and not more, so for simplicity’s sake my system works as follows:
* The first lunar day is the morning after or the morning of the new moon. If the new moon is exact before sunset, that day is lunar day one. If the new moon is exact overnight, the next morning is.
* When the 29th lunar day was yesterday, but the moon isn’t new until tomorrow (which happens a handful of times through the year because of all the reasons I just outlined) I insert a Planning Day. This is a ‘free day’ where you can do your planning for next few lunations.
Tuesday is our planning day (and also the day of the Virgin of Guadalupe) and an excellent day to begin thinking about this coming year. The following day is the first lunar day and an excellent one for magic for prosperity and luck (or really Fortune, a Goddess that you shouldn’t sleep on!).
This lunation is the last of 2023 and crosses the boundary into 2024. So while the space weather gets rough later in December, it’s still a good time to do magic around that boundary crossing (maybe it’s time for a round of the Lunation Rite?).
The rest of the week is rockier, which is a statement you’ll be hearing a lot this month unfortunately, but there are still some decent days for creating a strategy and household protection and cleansing. Check out the planner for more!
