Next week a great opportunity for a week-long working around needs and desires. When I recommend multi-day workings, sometimes people are like “dude, I can’t dedicate a whole week to magic, I have work/kids/chores/responsibilities.” Yeah I get it, me to! But you don’t have to clear your schedule to take advantage of a working like this! Instead, you plan a series of linked individual workings that fit into your schedule but all go together:
Set up a temporary alter for your working. I have a portable file box on wheels that I use for this kind of stuff, but if space is a premium it can be a window sill, or corner of a bookshelf. Leave it up throughout the working.
Decide on an overarching goal for the working. For this coming week, I want better insight into what I need and what I don’t need in certain areas of my life and do some work to manifest those things.
Decide how you will leverage the theme. Maybe you decide to call on a specific personal or planetary spirit in various forms for each working. Or perhaps you will engage with your ancestors or mighty dead. If it were tied to a saint’s day, you could do a novena. Or maybe you will do tarot magic, deliberately constructing a spread, over the course of several days, that shows the result you want. Or you so a series of sigils. Remember to keep it focused. I will be using tarot and calling on Venus (with a remediation focus).
Figure out which days and times will work. Maybe you get up a dawn every day or you do it on a planetary hour, or just before bed. Maybe you just fit it in whenever you can. A multi-day working for household stuff could be happening while you do your house chores that week. Getting is done is better than doing it perfectly.
Finally, do the magic. If you miss a time or day, keep going. If something seems off or changes, adjust. Build the working at your altar with objects and offerings and materia and keep it alive until the working is complete.
Next week is for figuring out what you want and beginning the work to get it. That’s a goal worth spending a little time on.
Fantastic suggestions! I especially love the tarot reading suggestion for the gradual shaping of a desired goal toward a result. A great visual narrative which also acts as a prompt to the suconscious. I use the tarot in a lot of magical work but this is an appealing twist!
Even with your planner to hand, I still really appreciate these posts as a reminder to Do The Things!
