One of the things I do for magical planning is measure the days that have particular OOMPH for magical work. How do I measure? I include the position of the luminaries (Sun and Moon) and other planets, the day of the week, the purpose of the lunar day, time of year, certain days, and other astro-alignments. I have a ranking system that weighs these items and highlights days that are particularly well aligned for certain types of workings (as well as ones that are kind of shit).
This next week is one of the best days for magic until after the March equinox… as long as you are interested in spirit contact, demon conjuring, crossroads bedeviling, and the like.
Friday and Saturday are both great days for spirit work, but Saturday is particularly loaded with a lot of Saturn energy. Saturn has been in a position of power since the end of 2017 and while this hasn’t always been easy (greater malefic and all), this time is about to end. So if you want to explore the workings of Saturn in power more closely, this is the time.
In my witchcraft practice, I associate Saturn with the the archetype of the crone. Yes, Saturn as female is controversial, but my perspective is that planets as magical energies (rather than Hellenistic astrological ones) are very large. The Greek / Roman deities are one common way of relating to the planets (and one that I also use frequently) but not the only one.
As the crone, Saturn gives zero fucks about what’s hip or popular and isn’t interested in listening to bullshit excuses. She governs the larger cycles, time, death, fate, and doing what needs to be done. She’s the power of the witch and the boundaries that the witch holds (as opposed to those that the witch crosses). I will admit, this is some UPG (and strongly related to the fact that while Saturn was in Aquarius, I suddenly and unexpectedly became a crone myself) so take or leave it as you like.
You don’t have to be a witch to lean into spirit work next Saturday. You just need to be organized and disciplined about how you approach the spirits and engage with them. You could conjure the devil at the crossroads (and in that case, I’d start on a Friday and go each night for three nights), dust off those Solomonic grimoires, go hedge riding, visit a haunted or fairy location, or way find to your deepest ancestors.
You could clean house and leave milk out for the Hob or Brownie. You could conjure an imp to do your bidding. You could call on fairy godmothers, angels, and mighty dead to watch over you.
