There are lots of interesting days this week. There’s some BVM goodness, a spectacular day for road opening and unblocking magic, a beleaguered new lunar cycle, and a day for all the attraction magic.
But instead, I wanted to focus on encouraging you all to participate in a novena to St. Catherine of Siena. This saint was particularly associated with peace and justice, and her nine-day novena starts next Saturday, the 22nd. If you’ve never done a novena before, you can start by simply printing out the saint’s prayer card and reading about their life. But to jailbreak a bit, I like to adjust the prayers a bit to the goal I’m after. For example, this site has a list of prayers for peace from different faiths around the world. Now, saints are Christian and it’s useful to acknowledge that when you work with them. But I love the idea of a novena to world peace using prayers from around the world’s religions and cultures.
