A Certain Kind of Courage

May 18-24: Be Not Afraid!

This coming week has an interesting day on Tuesday. It’s the day for ‘not being afraid of punishment’ and the first decan of Gemini. The moon is also conjoined Fomalhaut. All of this to me suggests a day for intellectual courage.

Now, what does that mean from a magical standpoint?

Well, it might be the day you do the really hard tarot readings — the questions you really don’t want the answers to. Or maybe you can’t be objective so you get someone else to do them for you.

It could be that you use the day speak your truth in some powerful way. Saying something that you have been afraid to. This might be fortified for some courage magic, but specifically for courage to speak.

You might lean into some throat chakra unblocking practices… to release the ability to speak.

How about practicing vibrating some vowels or barbarous names? This came up in a small group consulting session — what does ‘vibrating’ feel like? Well, this might be the day to practice. The Agathos Diamon invocation from the PGM (or from the Lunation Rite if you are a member of the Inner Circle) is a lovely opportunity to get your vowel projecting on.

Finally, you can petition your powers and spirits and ask for what you really want. Sometimes we are hesitant to do that and today is the day to break through that block.
